Orb of Creation Convert Blaze and Firebolt Guide
Solve Convert Blaze mana drain, complete Firebolt ritual stages, and master the Blaze resource loop that gates mid-game Orb of Creation progression.
The Convert Blaze and Firebolt ritual line is Orb of Creation's most documented progression wall. Players arrive with a healthy economy, toggle their permanent augments confidently, and then watch Convert Blaze drain their entire mana bar in seconds while enemies continue spawning. The problem is almost never the spell itself. It is a combination of cast level, regeneration setup, potion timing, and trying to level both spells at once.
Understanding the Blaze Resource Loop
Convert Blaze transforms mana into Blaze, a fire resource used by Firebolt and several fire-aspect upgrades. Firebolt consumes Blaze to deal damage. Ritual stages in this line require you to generate a Blaze threshold via Convert Blaze while simultaneously clearing enemy waves, then cast Firebolt to finish the objective. The loop is: channel Convert Blaze, drink potion, fight with combat spells, channel Convert Blaze again, cast Firebolt when Blaze is sufficient.
Blaze does not persist indefinitely in early progression. You cannot stockpile Blaze in one session and return tomorrow. Ritual stages expect you to produce Blaze during the encounter itself, which means Convert Blaze must run mid-combat while you are also casting Solar Flare or Lightning Spear on other keys.
Fixing Convert Blaze Mana Drain
The first fix is lowering Convert Blaze cast level. You do not need maximum level to meet early ritual Blaze thresholds. Drop to the lowest level that still produces enough Blaze per second, then increase only when regeneration supports it. The second fix is potion timing: drink on Q immediately before starting the channel, not after mana hits zero. A level 20 mana potion boosts regeneration for its duration, which overlaps with the channel window.
The third fix is capacity. Click your mana resource icon and trace every upgrade source. If maximum mana is too low, you cannot sustain even a reduced-level channel through a full wave. Workshop and Magic tree upgrades that raise mana caps often matter more than adding another combat spell to your bar.
- Lower Convert Blaze cast level until regeneration matches drain rate
- Drink mana potion on Q before channeling, not at zero mana
- Raise mana capacity through workshop and magic upgrades first
- Level Convert Blaze alone before investing in Firebolt levels
Firebolt Ritual Stage Strategy
Once Convert Blaze runs sustainably, Firebolt becomes the damage finisher. Assign Firebolt to key 7 or 8, away from your primary combat rotation on keys 1-3. After generating sufficient Blaze mid-fight, tap Firebolt to consume the stockpile for burst damage. Some stages require a specific number of Firebolt casts rather than total damage, so read the objective text before entering.
Do not level Firebolt until Convert Blaze operates at your target level without potion panic. Every Firebolt level increases Blaze consumption per cast, which pressures the Convert Blaze channel you are still stabilizing. Community playthroughs of v0.4.5 and v0.5 consistently show Convert Blaze reaching level 20+ before serious Firebolt investment.
Recommended Bar Layout for Blaze Rituals
Keys 1-3 hold Solar Flare, Lightning Spear, and Beam Burst for enemy waves. Key 4 holds a Quick augment for cooldown reduction. Key 5 holds a Small augment for mana cost reduction. Key 6 holds Convert Blaze at reduced level. Key 7 holds Firebolt. Q binds your best mana potion. W binds a backup potion or Expansion Elixir for long stages.
During the fight, rotate offense on keys 1-3 between Convert Blaze channels on key 6. When Blaze meter fills, fire Firebolt on key 7 and resume the loop. If mana drops below your channel threshold, Q to drink and immediately re-channel. Never let Convert Blaze sit unused while spamming offense, or you will reach the end of the wave without meeting the Blaze objective.
When to Move Past the Blaze Wall
You have cleared the Blaze wall when Convert Blaze runs at your working level through an entire ritual wave with at most one potion drink, Firebolt meets damage thresholds without emptying Blaze prematurely, and retry cooldowns are spent on stage progression rather than mana troubleshooting. At that point, invest in higher Convert Blaze levels and begin Firebolt scaling for later ritual lines.
Players who rush past this checkpoint with underleveled regeneration often stall again at the next fire-aspect ritual gate. Take time to brew level 20 potions, automate water through alchemy, and raise mana capacity before declaring the Blaze line solved.
