Aspects in Orb of Creation are permanent directional choices in the Workshop, Magic, World, and Alchemy trees. Unlike spells you swap on the bar, aspect investments compound across your entire save. Picking the wrong aspect early does not always soft-lock you, but it can add days of grinding to reach the same milestone a better choice would have hit in hours. This tier list ranks aspect paths by how reliably they carry players through early snowball, mid-game alchemy, and late-game ritual gates.
Ranking Criteria for Aspects
We score aspects on four axes: immediate resource impact, capacity headroom, synergy with spell tags you already use, and whether the aspect unlocks systems alchemy or rituals require. An aspect that gives a flashy bonus to a resource you never conjure is C-tier regardless of the number on the tooltip. An aspect that raises a cap blocking your next upgrade is S-tier even if the passive bonus looks small.
Community rankings aggregate Steam guide authors, Discord theorycraft threads, and episode playthroughs from v0.4.5 through v0.6 beta. Single-player incremental games tolerate many builds, but speed to first ritual clear and time to transmutation automation define these tiers.
S-Tier Workshop and Early Magic Aspects
Workshop aspects that increase production multipliers for your current target resource or raise early capacity ceilings dominate the first ten hours. These aspects pay for themselves before you finish the research book that unlocked them. Magic aspects that improve mana regeneration or reduce spell costs climb to S-tier as soon as you toggle multiple permanent augments simultaneously.
If an aspect description mentions conjure tags you already spam on keys 1 through 4, prioritize it. The incremental math is multiplicative: aspect bonus times duplicate conjures times cooldown augments. Skipping a conjure-tag aspect to buy a unrelated World bonus is one of the most common early mistakes documented in FAQ threads.
- Production multipliers for your active conjure resource: S-tier
- Capacity increases removing your current wall: S-tier
- Mana regeneration while running permanent augments: S-tier
- Cosmetic or future-system aspects with no current spell synergy: C-tier or lower
A-Tier Mid-Game and World Aspects
World aspects that unlock movement, automation helpers, or new resource channels typically land in A-tier once Workshop snowball stabilizes. They are not first-purchase options, but they become excellent after you can afford the research without stalling conjure levels. Magic aspects linking to alchemy power or brewing efficiency also sit here until transmutation unlocks push them higher.
Herbalism and World integration aspects rise in tier after mid-game alchemy walkthrough milestones. Before herbalism, they are pretty labels. After herbalism, they can define your entire transmutation pipeline output.
B-Tier and Delayed Aspect Picks
B-tier aspects include strong bonuses locked behind prerequisites you do not meet yet, duplicate effects you already purchased elsewhere, and branches that only shine in endgame transmutation builds. Note them in your progression checklist but do not borrow research books from S-tier purchases to grab them early.
Patreon or beta-exclusive content does not change base aspect tiers for Steam players, but experimental branches on the beta channel occasionally introduce aspects that will move tiers after full release. Check Discord announcements when migrating saves between branches.
Aspect Planning Across v0.6 Beta
v0.6 beta restructured Flow, Control, and several Magic gates. Aspects tied to old v0.5 progression shortcuts may feel weaker while Flow-aligned paths feel mandatory. If you are on the beta branch, read the v0.6 walkthrough before copying v0.5 aspect guides verbatim. Saves partially migrate, but optimal aspect order does not.
